Built by a Technician.

For technicians.

In 2017, I stepped into the world of fiber optics with no idea it would shape my future. From day one, I was drawn to the details — the precision, the pressure, and the responsibility of keeping people connected. As I moved up through the industry, I spent years in the field troubleshooting, splicing, and maintaining networks that power homes and businesses.

One day, while assisting with a routine fiber audit — something I’d done hundreds of times — I made a mistake. I applied just a little too much tension to a fiber strand while trying to attenuate it, and it snapped. That one break took down service for multiple customers. I remember thinking: There has to be a better way.

That moment stuck with me. I realized that every technician, no matter how experienced, faces this same risk — manually attenuating fibers with nothing but their fingers, often for minutes at a time, hoping they don’t apply too much pressure.

So I went to work.

I started designing a tool I wish I had from day one. A tool that could apply a consistent, calibrated attenuation — just enough to identify the fiber and test impact without breaking it. After countless sketches, prototypes, and field testing, I built the solution: a tool designed to eliminate the human error of manual attenuation and make fiber identification safer, faster, and more reliable.

This isn’t just a tool. It’s a product born from real-world mistakes, designed by someone who knows the weight of that responsibility — and built to help every technician in the field work with confidence.

Welcome to Shark Fiber Optics

I’m Mark Anaya.

I started in fiber optics on a whim, not knowing it would become my passion and my career. What drew me in was the precision, the problem-solving, and the satisfaction of helping people stay connected.

Before fiber, I spent years in the oil field. It taught me grit — but I knew I wanted more than just physical labor. I wanted to build a career based on skill, intelligence, and long-term growth.

I began at the bottom as a $13-an-hour hand, with zero technical experience. Through hard work and obsession with the craft, I worked my way up to Operations Manager for a leading fiber contractor supporting one of the largest expanding internet providers in the country.

From new construction to troubleshooting cut lines in the middle of the night, the field taught me everything: how to lead, how to fix what others can’t, and how to build systems that last. Today, I bring that same focus and experience into every project I take on.
